My husband is retired military so we are in the hands of TriCare Prime. I recently changed doctors because the one I had would have put me on as many prescription drugs as possible if I had allowed it. I had triple bypass in 2001 and for a few months after, I felt pretty good. I had to take care of my mother just four months after that so I was still weak but it was necessary so I drove 13 hours to her home. It was not an easy five weeks and when I got home, all the memories of that time came flooding in and I thought I was relapsing. I started feeling terrible and I went to see my doctor. I was 'emotional' so he prescribed Paxil. Now I was on Altace, Tiazac, Zocor, Glucophage XL, a low dose aspirin, and Paxil. Needless to say, our relationship went down from then on. I no longer do all those drugs. I take Glucovance to keep my blood sugar stable, but mostly I do alternative/nutritional approaches which are not covered my Champus and I have to pay for the stuff I do for my psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. My husband and I don't pay anything for prescription drugs but I don't believe they are the right solution for me and I would like to see a doctor who specializes in complimentary practice but it's not available to me. That's why I believe we need a change. We need to clean up mainstream medicine and make it possible for EVERYONE to have first rate medical care and we can do that by removing the pharmaceutical companies from medical schools. Good health is about good nutrition, not about pharmaceuticals.
