Story:
From Annonymous:
My mother was killed by Kaiser. The number of mistakes and oversights they made were beyond what any real health care organization would make. To name a few:

My mother, aged 81, was in a medical crisis. It took 4 trips to the ER, and advice from her doctor to take her to ER and refuse to take her home to ger her admitted to he hospital.

The ER doctors, who didn't know her, misdiagosed her and mistreated her. At the 4th visit, she was admitted and they found that she had a severe UTI and many other problems. By the time the Kaiser system was done with her, she was very weak an unable to function normally.

We had her placed in a Board and Care home, but almost were not able due to the fact that Kaiser discharge her with insulin, which she did not need. The doctor at Kaiser simply told us that it wasn't needed, and to cross it off.

In her weakness, she fell and broke her hip. After surgery, they sent her to the San Leandro KPACC. She started vomiting everytime she ate or drank.. It wasn't until I called to check on her that they admitted she wasn't able to do any rehab therapy for her hip because she hadn't eaten for several days. the doctors even had the nerve to ask me what they should do about it.

She was admitted to the hospital again, and they found a severe bowel obstruction, two days away from being gangrenous. She had yet another operation, and was released to a nursing facility.

After a little more that a week, we were called because she had blood from her nose, mouth and in her stools. She was taken to Kaiser again, and they found that she had pneumonia and diverticulitis. She also developed C-Diff, and was admitted to their ICU and intubated.

After they removed the tube, she had had enough. So on a Friday at 4:30 PM, they release her to supposed palliative care. On Monday, when the Hospice nurse arrived, they discovered that Kaiser had not sent any morphine. My mother suffered for two days thanks to the unethical and insensitive care of Kaier.

She died one day later, on a Tuesday. The Kaiser nurse doctor came in to visit her, and all they could say was that it was too late. We ordered them to get out. They were worthless.

And now, a mont later, Kaiser sent a letter to my mother (who died), to ask her if anyone else could be blamed for her broken hip. I have nothing but bad feelings for this Kaiser system that did not even allow her doctor to play a role in her care. They killed her, and now want somebody else to blame.

We plan to go to Kaiser to try to get them to change their system of "lack of care."
